Mind your beeswax

February 11, 2009

When looking for a safe  alternative to all the natural/herbal/new age/homeopathic/reflexology/relaxation/ beauty products out there, you might ask yourself beeswax or glycerine? Well why not ask yourself, soy wax?

Soy wax is quite a recent invention. It was only in 1991, when Michael Richards, when looking for a cheaper alternative for beeswax, that he developed soy wax. There was a big demand for natural wax candles, but beeswax was about 10 times more expensive than paraffin. As he entered the candle industry with beeswax products he realized there was a growing demand for natural wax candles. Micheal Richard tested different natural plant waxes and finally ended up with a vegetable wax which was made with partially hydrogenated soy oil, coconut oil and palm oil. He also blended beeswax with soy wax to make an economical natural wax candle.

Soy wax doesn’t burn you.

Soy wax is good for the skin.

Soy wax candles burn all the way down, equally, without sinking in the middle!

Soy wax seems to be the way to go, but maybe I should just mind my own beeswax?

Thermage- is it the way to go?

February 9, 2009

Are you feeling saggy? have you hit 40,41,43 and more than your credit has cruched? Maybe thermage is the way to go.

What is it? When I hear the word ‘thermage’ fo some reason I imagine heat and water. So is it all a lot of  hot water?

Here is a random before and after picture:

Thermage is a non-invasive, no-downtime cosmetic surgery technique that tightens aging skin and renews the facial features. Thermage was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in late 2001 and has grown in popularity in the last few years. Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to enhance the appearance of facial skin around the eyes and forehead, producing desirable results with no incisions and virtually no recovery time. During the Thermage procedure, the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) is cooled down with a spray so as not to damage the visible layers of the skin. The Thermage procedure also works by activating the body’s own natural healing response, leading to new collagen production.

Cost: about $2000 ( a quarter the price of a facelift and no pain )

Using Acai berries

February 6, 2009

Now what are they you are asking…….

The Acai berry [pronounced a-sigh-y] is a small, black, round berry. Resembling smaller version of a grape, this fruit has a small amount of pulp surrounding a large seed at its centre. It  is used in a wide variety of health foods and other common consumer products like ice cream, and is the main food use with an acai berry diet.

Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) is a method of measuring antioxidant capacities of different foods.

Foods with higher ORAC values are more effective in fighting the damages of daily living caused by free radicals.Acai Berry’s potent 4:1 extract ratio is the highest quality you will find anywhere. Taken as indicated, Acai Berry will reduce the impact of cell oxidization dramatically over even the smallest time span…..try them,if you can find them!
